What I learned this week: We started After Effects
What I want to learn in the future: Animation in Ae
Something that frustrated me: Lol this documentary is soooooo not close to done.
Something that made me happy: The ten minutes of decent movie in Twilight.

Two videos this week. Number one - Doctor Who Christmas 2012 Promoooooo

Number two - Gersberms (Yer Gervin Mah) by Hard n' Phirm (Chris Hardwick and Mike Phirman)

EnChroma

Three Things I Didn't Know:
1. You can fix color blindness with glasses.
2. These glasses will also generally enhance color.
3. You can use lenses to change shades of color.

Two Opinions:
1. Those glasses are really expensive.
2. These are honestly cool. Imagine seeing vivid red or blue for the first time in years. That'd be awesome.

One Question:
1. Why is there a price difference depending on whether you're color blind or not?

The Bay

Three Things I Did Not Know:
1. That this film existed.
2. That it had already been released and I hadn't heard about it.
3. That 40 percent of the Chesapeake Bay is a dead zone.

Two Opinions:
1. Found footage is almost never effective and quite frequently gets in the way of storytelling (see: Chronicle, a film that would've been 100x better had it not been bogged down by explanations of why there was a camera there at the time).
2. That shot in the trailer of the bug-thing crawling out of the fish creeped me out.

One question:
1. When is found footage going to stop being used?

What I learned this week: It wasn't so much learning as it was refining my editing skills with the Quest project.
What I want to learn in the future: After effects
Something that frustrated me: Thursday was one of the most stressful days I've had in probably the last year.
Something that made me happy: Sleep, oh my god. Sleep is so nice.

Here's a Funny or Die video of celebrities doing pro-bowling trick shots. Everyone from Adam Scott and Aubrey Plaza (from the fantastic Parks and Rec) to John Goodman to the guy who played Al Borland on Home Improvement is in this.

All Star Bowling Trick Shots from Adam Scott

Voice Actors

Three things I did not know:
1. Frank Welker voiced Abu in Aladdin.
2. Seth MacFarlane is hosting the next Oscars.
3. That voice acting has begun attracting A-listers.

Two opinions:
1. It's awesome that voice actors like Frank Weller are getting more and more fame.
2. I don't think Family Guy is that great anymore, and MacFarlane is kind've one note.

One question:
1. Why did Chris Rock make a joke about how easy voice acting is? Seems unprofessional.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Quest for More Money

Three things I did not know:
1. Rango was created by ILM and was their first completely original film.
2. Disney will probably dismantle ILM.
3. Disney currently owns the Monkey Island IP. I never thought of that.

Two opinions:
1. The fact that Disney is calling Star Wars a "family friendly" entertainment brand makes me nervous. I want more Empire, less Phantom.
2. Losing ILM would be a shame. They're a great special effects company.

One question:
1. Is the sequel going to be good, or is it going to be.......the prequels again?

What I learned this week: How to capture footage from cameras into Premiere.
What I want to learn in the future: At this point, I just want to film the rest of my documentary.
Something that frustrated me: TRAFFIC. Was stuck in Canada for an hour an a half Sunday in slow moving traffic. CAN YOU THINK OF A WORSE SITUATION?
Something that made me happy: Uhhhh...Minecraft, I guess. This week was pretty uneventful. I visited Fredonia last weekend and that was cool.

One of my favorite series on YouTube is RoosterTeeth's Let's Play Minecraft. Here's Episode 23 (the most recent episode), where the guys do a riff on The Hunger Games.

DISCLAIMER: I do have to warn you, they swear. There's nothing I can really do about it, I think most of us swear when playing games. Hopefully I don't get in trouble for posting this. I try not to post things that have poor language but I think we can handle it.

I also couldn't find another clip of interest this week, honestly.
