Weekly Comments

  • What I learned this week: Flash, Flash, Flash, Flash, and more Flash.
  • What I want to learn in the future: I'm not sure. Right now, for the foreseeable future, all I can think about is Flash.
  • Something that frustrated you this week: Tutorials from hell. And our school is making us ride a mini-bus now.
  • Something that made you happy: Chinese food with friends. And I ALMOST have my tutorials done. I'm on part eight.
I'm gonna go watch Troll 2 with some friends. Have a good weekend everyone.

Skyward Sword boss fight

I can't wait for this game.

(Are video games consider animation? I think so.)

Anyway. Next week I'll probably post a tutorial or two.

The Simpsons opening (or is it?)

It's not just ANY Simpsons opening. It's The Simpsons opening, done in Minecraft style.

Weekly Comments

Two days ago, I got a text from a friend right when I was packing up to leave Boces. What did it say? "169 days".

Make it 167.

I should say though, this class is so much fun. I look forward to it everyday.
  • What I learned this week: More Illustrator! Hey, I don't mind. It was pretty easy to use. We also covered the psychology of color.
  • What I want to learn in the future: Looking forward to Flash on Friday or Monday!
  • Something that frustrated you this week: I finished all of the ads and my math homework on Wednesday, leaving me with nothing to do today.
  • Something that made you happy: I'm getting really good grades in this class, and my AP US History class (an 85, which, hey, that's way better than I expected).

The Chosen One

This video is four years old - how have I never seen it?! I'm apparently out of it.

Spoilers

50 animated spoilers in three minutes. Not as funny as some of their other spoiler videos, but it's about animation, soooooooo...

Weekly Comments

Tomorrow is the end of my second week (my ninth day of school, eight for some of you), and so far, it's honestly going pretty well. My schedule (before BOCES) is really, really easy (English, Gym/Study Hall, Band, AP US History, Lunch) and I've got friends in all of them. The bus ride here is really nice (and quiet, as most of Newfane's kids go to Medina) and this is the most fun class I have had in as long as I can remember. And all the people all really cool.

  • What I learned this week: Illustrator, mainly; although I'm getting pretty good at using it (I find the pen tool fairly easy)
  • What I want to learn in the future: Still can't wait to get into things like Flash and Cheetah, and learn how to use them.
  • Something that frustrated you this week: Here? Nothing. It was a smooth week. My home school's bus issues however.... >.<
  • Something that made you happy: I feel pretty accomplished in my knowledge of shortcuts in Illustrator. Ms. Licata was right, they speed up everything.
I'm looking forward to next week!

Harry Potter

Just a quick video. How Harry Potter should've ended. I believe it's flash animation (but don't take my word for it).

Pixar

So, when it comes to animated movies, I'm not afraid to admit I'm a pretty big Pixar fan (with the exception of Cars, and especially Cars 2 - I will never see that movie, as to me, it does not exist). I've tried to get into things like the more recent Dreamworks movies, like How to Train Your Dragon (as I've heard really good things about it) but never got around to watching it.

I saw this a couple months ago when it was released online. It's a teaser for Pixar's next movie, and I figured it would be a good first clip to show on this blog. It looks absolutely fantastic, and could possibly be a bit darker (not PG-13 territory, obviously, but just more of an action tale). The film is called Brave, and comes out next June.

Rambling

So I don't have the rubric in front of me, so I'm sorry if our first post(s) were supposed to be from it, but judging by everyone else's I think they were just supposed to be A post. So I'm gonna make another couple random ones (especially since I've always tried to do blogs, but always grew uninterested as I never had an audience).

So the name of my blog? I've always sucked with them, and there's a good chance it'll change. It already did once (from the simple placeholder of "Animation").

I've really been enjoying Boces. The bus ride to and from is pretty enjoyable (quiet, peaceful, etc.) although our school is being pretty stupid when it comes to once we get back to the school (see Haley's blog). And of course, the class is enjoyable too, even if I already know a lot of what we've covered (Mac basics, the difference between byte through terabyte is, actually I knew a lot on that computer sheet).

Speaking of that computer sheet, if there's one thing you'll learn from reading this, it's that I'm a tech nerd. I'm also heavily into pop culture, and try to watch as many critically acclaimed television shows/movies as I can, but technology is my main area of expertise.

I'm a bit of a gamer, too, not a huge one though. I've never gotten into FPS, I'm more into RPGs and adventure games. Also, like Enya, I'm a fan of the Zelda series (in fact, my friend Julian (back in Newfane) and I can't wait for Nov. 20th, when Skyward Sword comes out), and I also still enjoy a good Mario game from time to time. As far as RPGs go, I honestly can't point one out because I haven't been gaming as much. I really don't even have a console from this generation (I really need to get an Xbox). I can say that I want to get one by the end of the year for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (an RPG).

Yeah, I ramble. Anyway, before I end this post (and I probably won't post again til Monday), instead of talking about 9/11, I'm going to share this video with you, now almost 10 years old. It's from The Daily Show, a show most of you have probably seen, and the first show they did after 9/11. It's about 8 minutes long, but it's an incredible video. I found it about two years ago, and looked it up again earlier today.

Have a good weekend everyone.

First

First week, first post.

Half of us were here on my first day, Tuesday, since a lot of schools hadn't started yet. All we did was watch a documentary, Waking Sleeping Beauty, which was interesting enough. Wednesday was our tour of Boces and just talking about the class and Boces in general, and today, we finished up talking about guidelines for the class and have moved on to talking about Gmail, Calendar, Reader, etc., all of which I already have and use.

But I'm really enjoying the class so far. I definitely look forward to it everyday. Anyway. This posts will definitely follow a better rubric after this one. Just trying to find my feet.
